VAMNICOM ropes in IIM & IIT for a course on Data Analytics

Considering the importance of Data Analytics in the modern times,  Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management, Pune is organizing a 5 day programme titled “Data Analytics and Machine Learning using R” from 24th June 2019 to 28th June 2019.

The programme has been conceived and designed under the leadership of Dr K.K Tripathy, Director, VAMNICOM with a view to strengthen the research capabilities at the institute. The sessions will be conducted by expert faculties drawn from IIT Kharagpur and IIM Kolkata with hands on practice on computer programming language “R”.

More than 30 participants from various sectors viz. banking, marketing, financial institutions and academia are expected to participate in the programme. Select faculty members from VAMNICOM, ICMs/RICMs and other reputed institutes like IRMA and NIBM, shall also be a part of the programme.

Basic as well as advanced statistical techniques like hypothesis testing, linear and logistic regression, neural network analysis, factor analysis and forecasting techniques shall be covered in the course during five days.

The programme will be of immense importance to practitioners and academicians to augment their skill-set on data analytics which is one of the most coveted skills in times to come. It is being organized by the MDP centre through Programme Coordinators Dr D.V Deshpande, Professor and Head of Centre of MDP and Smt Anshu Singh, Assistance Professor, VAMNICOM.

Talking to Indian Cooperative Vamnicom Director K K Tripathy said “In recent years, Data Analytics has gathered immense attraction from practitioners and academicians.  In the age of information, with increased use of internet and social media, huge volumes of data sets are thrown at us every second.”

“Today good understanding of data is the key to strategic decisions in industrial arena. Similarly in the social science sphere also, a robust analytical research approach is required to guide good policy decisions”,Tripathy added.
