The prestigious cooperative institute Pune based Vamnicom conducted a three-day training program on Asset and Liability Management in Urban Cooperative Bank recently.
The program was inaugurated by the newly appointed Dr Hema Yadav, Director VAMNICOM. A total of 24 participants (7 women and 17 Men) from 16 cooperative banks participated in the training program.
These banks were from five different states namely Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. The participants are working in Urban Banks in different capacities like CEO, AGM, General Manager, Dy Manager, Manager, Finance Manager, EDP officer and Sr. Account officer, read a press note from the Vamnicom.
A large number of participants from Urban cooperative banks from Maharashtra participated actively in this training program. The main focus of this program was to provide complete training about NPA management and different ways to increase profitability of Urban cooperative banks.
The press noted further reads,” In this training program, we have conducted a total of six sessions in three days related to Asset and Liability management.
Training programs covered topics like Risk identification in banks, Assets, and Liability management with an understanding of different statements and preparation, Interest Sensitivity effect on a bank statement, how these different statements banks’ key executives can use for decision-making as well as in the management of liquidity risk.
Issues also included behavioral study to manage credit risk and liquidity risk, Asset liability related RBI guidelines and how to take different precautions to avoid NPA etc. CASA management and SARFAESI Act were also taken up for discussion.
The training program was successful with sessions, talks and discussions from Dr. Pallavi Ingale (Assistant professor, VAMINICOM), Dr. D. V. Deshpande, (Ex- Director-BIRD, Lucknow), Dr. M. L. Sukhdeve (EX- Chief General Manager, NABARD) and Shri M. Shanware (Ex- Chief Manager in BOM CEO Janseva Bank).
