Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM), one of India’s premier Agri-Business management institutions, hosted its 30th Convocation Ceremony for the Post Graduate Diploma in Management – Agri Business & Management (PGDM-ABM) on Saturday, July 20, 2024. The event took place at 11:00 AM in the Shivneri Auditorium of VAMNICOM, Pune, under the auspices of the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India.

The ceremony saw 96 students from the 2022-24 batch receive their diplomas. The PGDM-ABM program is recognized by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), and certified under ISO standards. Additionally, the Association of Indian Universities has equated the program with an MBA degree, further cementing its credibility and prestige.

Dr. Hema Yadav, Director of VAMNICOM, inaugurated the event with a warm welcome to the guests, parents, faculty, and students. She emphasized the institute’s commitment to promoting girls’ education and training women through various programs. Highlighting VAMNICOM’s achievements, Dr. Yadav mentioned the institute’s ranking as the top B-School in the government sector in Pune District and among the top 25 B-Schools nationwide. She also noted that the Ministry of Cooperation provides a scholarship of Rs. 2 lakhs to meritorious PGDM-ABM students.

Dr. D. Ravi, Joint Programme Director, facilitated the award ceremony. Ms. V. Meghana, the overall topper of the 30th batch, received a Gold Medal from Shri Murlidhar Mohol, Hon’ble Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

In his convocation address, Shri Murlidhar Mohol congratulated the graduates and officially inaugurated the 32nd batch of PGDM-ABM (2024-26). He also released the special issue of “Cooperative Perspective” (Volume No.58) and the latest edition (Vol 59 No.1), along with launching the Executive Edge-session series.

The minister spoke about the vital role of the cooperative sector in India’s economy, mentioning that the country boasts over 8.5 lakh cooperative societies with 29 crore members. He underscored the sector’s contribution to rural socio-economic development and the government’s initiatives to empower it, including the formation of the Ministry of Cooperation in July 2021. He highlighted the launch of 18,000 computerized PACS and the world’s largest food grain storage scheme in the cooperative sector, with significant investments and infrastructural developments.

The event was attended by distinguished guests from cooperatives, state and central government officials, corporate representatives, FPO/FPC members, parents of graduates, and alumni. Dr. A.K. Asthana, Registrar of VAMNICOM, delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest and all attendees for their presence and support. He also extended congratulations to the graduating students.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone for VAMNICOM, reflecting its commitment to excellence in Agri-Business management education and its role in shaping future leaders in the cooperative sector.
