In a landmark event at the NCEL Headquarters, World Trade Centre, New Delhi, the Unati Agri Allied and Marketing Multi-State Cooperative Society Ltd. (UAMMCL), based in Talwara, Punjab, entered into four significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with national-level cooperative federations, reinforcing India’s vision of cooperative-led development.
The agreements were signed individually with National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL), represented by Managing Director Unupom Kausik; National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL), represented by Managing Director Vipul Mittal; Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL), represented by Managing Director Chetan Joshi; and the National Film and Fine Arts Cooperative Society Ltd. (NAFFAC), chaired by Ram Iqbal Singh.
Representing Unati were Chairman Vikrant Dogra and Managing Director Jyoti Saroop, who led the delegation during this strategic engagement. The MoU signing ceremony witnessed the distinguished presence of P.K. Bansal, IAS, Chairman of NCEL and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India.
Also attending were senior cooperative leaders and dignitaries including J.P. Singh, Satyapal Singh, Vinay Kumar, Dr. Kala Iyer, Sanjay Verma, Gurpreet Singh, and representatives from all participating federations.
In his keynote address, NCDC MD Bansal emphasized that this alignment between grassroots cooperatives and national federations epitomizes the vision of ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ and serves as a foundation for building robust backward and forward linkages that can transform Indian agriculture, boost exports, and empower rural communities.
The partnership with NCEL aims to facilitate the export of Unati’s fruits, grains, and processed value-added products through global cooperative trade channels. The collaboration with NCOL will enable the branding and marketing of certified organic products under the national ‘Bharat Brand’, giving distinct identity to farmer produce.
The MoU with BBSSL focuses on seed conservation, production, and distribution through Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and local cooperatives, promoting both traditional and climate-resilient seed varieties.
In association with NAFFAC, Unati will launch “Unati–NAFFAC Sahkar Samvad,” a national initiative aligned with the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) to document and disseminate cooperative success stories and innovations through creative media.
Speaking on the occasion, Vikrant Dogra, Chairman of UAMMCL, emphasized that the MoUs are more than ceremonial; they are catalysts for cooperative transformation and symbolize a unity of purpose among institutions dedicated to farmer-centric development.
Jyoti Saroop, Founder and Director of UAMMCL, underlined that the partnerships are rooted in shared values of trust, transparency, and innovation at the grassroots. He described the initiative as a significant leap in Unati’s evolution from a local movement to a global cooperative force.
Vinay Kumar, Managing Director of NAFFAC, remarked that the collaboration would elevate grassroots cooperative communication through impactful digital storytelling and media outreach.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from the Unati team, expressing deep appreciation for the Ministry of Cooperation’s visionary leadership and the proactive engagement of all participating federations.
This collaborative endeavor stands as a promising model for integrated cooperative development, offering new avenues for rural entrepreneurship, employment generation, and international trade, and reinforcing the role of cooperatives as a central pillar in realizing India’s Viksit Bharat @2047 vision.
