In a significant move to diversify its operations and tap emerging sectors, Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society has announced the launch of two new brands, UL Actant and UL N’Shore, marking its entry into electrical engineering, renewable energy, and premium interior solutions. The expansion reflects the cooperative’s forward-looking strategy to align with future-ready industries while generating large-scale employment.
The two ventures are projected to collectively generate Rs 4,000 crore in revenue and create around 3,500 direct and indirect jobs over the next decade. This initiative builds on the momentum of U-Sphere, the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) brand launched in 2025 during ULCCS’s centenary year, aimed at delivering integrated infrastructure solutions.
Speaking on the development, Remeshan Palery emphasised that the new ventures are rooted in the cooperative’s legacy of empowering workers. He noted that ULCCS was originally formed to counter social discrimination and provide livelihood opportunities, and the latest expansion continues that mission by opening new employment avenues in modern sectors.
UL Actant, the electrical engineering and green energy arm, is expected to generate Rs 2,000 crore in revenue and create about 1,500 jobs. It will offer a wide range of services, including electrical control systems, extra low voltage infrastructure, automated traffic management systems, CCTV networks, and data connectivity solutions.
The unit will also focus on renewable energy initiatives such as solar installations and plans to establish a NABL-accredited energy meter testing and calibration facility. Looking ahead, UL Actant aims to expand into high-growth areas such as green hydrogen, wind and solar energy, small hydropower projects, pumped storage systems, and battery energy storage solutions.
The unit already holds key accreditations, including empanelment with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the Agency for Non-conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT), along with an A-class contractor licence, strengthening its credentials in executing advanced electrical projects.
UL N’Shore, the second brand, will focus on premium interior design and turnkey execution services for residential, commercial, and institutional spaces. With an emphasis on sustainable and biophilic design, the venture will offer modular furniture manufacturing, integrated design services, and complete office fit-outs. Leveraging ULCCS’s existing manufacturing facilities and technology-driven systems, UL N’Shore is expected to generate Rs 2,000 crore in revenue and create around 2,000 jobs over ten years.
Founded over a century ago, ULCCS is Asia’s largest labour cooperative and a major player in infrastructure development, having completed more than 7,500 projects. Its diversification into new-age sectors underlines its evolution from a construction-focused entity to a multi-sector solutions provider.
The launch of UL Actant and UL N’Shore signals a new phase of growth, combining sustainability, technology, and employment generation in line with changing economic needs.
