UCF: New Chairman Nautiyal eyes ICM post

After taking the charge of Uttarakhand State Cooperative Federation (UCF) the newly elected Chairman Ghanshyam Nautiyal is now planning to gain control of Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM) Dehradun.

In this connection Nautiyal was in the town meeting everybody from the Minister to NCUI President to IFFCO MD, among others. Nautiyal is quoting the provisions of NCUI byelaws to buttress his claim.

First of all he met Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Sigh and apprised him of the fast changing scenario in the state of Uttarakhand ever since the BJP govt headed by Trivendra Singh Rawat took over.

It bears recall that currently ICM is headed by Pramod Kumar Singh who was earlier removed from his position as the chairman of UCF position. According to the bye-laws, the Chairman of UCF is the chairman of ICM.

Nautiyal talked the ICM affairs with the minister over and discussed the activities of UCF among other things. It needs no mention that both the Minister and Nautiyal belong to BJP fold and the latter‘s elevation as the Chairman of Dehradun ICM should meet no hiccups.

Talking to this correspondent after the meeting, Nautiyal said “Today I met Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and informed him about chairing the Institute of Cooperative Management Dehradhun and talked about the development of the cooperative movement in the state.

In order to cover the left-out ground Nautiyal also hurried to NCUI headquarters to meet its president Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav. NCUI is the apex body which controls ICM and without Chandra Pal’s “blessings” things may not move smoothly, felt his associates.

During his visit to Delhi he also met IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi at IFFCO’s headquarters in Saket. Being the largest fertilizer cooperative not only in India but also in the world, Nautiyal intended to ensure MD’s support in his future ventures. Incidentally, the outgoing UCF Chairman Pramod is on the board of IFFCO.

“But we strictly adhere to rules and go by both IFFCO’s byelaws and MSCS Act 2002”, said an IFFCO Director quoting case of NP Patel in which he was removed by the Board after losing elections in GUJCOMASOL. “If you play by rules you do not have to worry” he added without wishing to be named.

Even at the cost of repetition It is worth mentioning that Ghanshyam Nautiyal, the former Chairman of Tehri Garwhal Zila Sahakari Bank was elected Chairman of UCF ousting Pramod Kumar Singh.
