Marking the 122nd Birth Anniversary of Shri Tribhuvandas K. Patel- the pioneering architect of India’s cooperative movement- the “Tribhuvan” Sahkari University organized a National Consultation on Co-operative Education at its campus in Anand last week.
The event served as a national platform to deliberate on the “Future of Co-operative Education in India” and to honour the enduring legacy of Shri Tribhuvandas Patel.
The commemorative function was graced by Dileep Sanghani, President, NCUI and Chairman, IFFCO, as the Chief Guest, and Satish Marathe, Director, RBI & Founder Member, Sahakar Bharati, as the Guest of Honour.
Other distinguished dignitaries included Padmashri Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor, Tribhuvan Sahkari University; Anand Kumar Jha and Dr. Mukesh Kumar from the Ministry of Cooperation; Dr. Jayen Mehta, Managing Director, Amul (GCMMF); Dr. Saswata Biswas, Director, IRMA; K.J. Patel, Managing Director, IFFCO; Ms. Arti Patil, Managing Director, Saraswat Bank; P.K. Singhal, CGM, NABARD Gujarat; and Nirupam Mehrotra, Director, BIRD, Lucknow.
The inaugural session, titled “Agenda Setting: Engagement of Tribhuvan Sahkari University with the Co-operative Ecosystem,” was led by Prof. Rakesh Arrawatia, Dean, School of Cooperative Banking and Finance, and Prof. Shyam Singh, Dean, Affiliations, Tribhuvan Sahkari University. The session set the tone for building an inclusive, future-ready framework for cooperative education and leadership in India.
Speakers emphasized the need for value-based and people-centric cooperative education, highlighting programmes such as Leadership & Personal Effectiveness, Inclusive Leadership, Managing Teams for Dairy Cooperatives, and Strategic HRM for Cooperatives.
The consultation also outlined the University’s role as the apex institution for cooperative education and research under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India.
Participants reflected on the University’s vision to serve as a national catalyst for professionalising the cooperative movement through education, innovation, and capacity building aligned with India’s cooperative vision – “Sahkar Se Samriddhi.”
A souvenir commemorating the 122nd birth anniversary of Shri Tribhuvandas Patel was also released during the ceremony.
Expressing gratitude, one of the participants remarked, “It was truly inspiring to engage with thought leaders of the cooperative sector on shaping the future of cooperative education while celebrating the remarkable legacy of Shri Tribhuvandas Patel.”
