The distinguished Padma Shri awardee and eminent forensic scientist, Dr. J.M. Vyas, has been appointed as the Officiating Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan Sahkari University—an Institution of National Importance named after IRMA.
Dr. Vyas, the Founder Vice Chancellor of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU)—an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs—continues to scale new heights in his illustrious career.
A pioneer in forensic science and education in India, Jayantkumar Maganlal Vyas served as the Vice Chancellor of NFSU, Gandhinagar. His contributions to the field span over three decades, including his tenure as Director of the Directorate of Forensic Science, Gujarat State, from 1993 until his retirement in 2009. He continued to hold additional charge of the office until 2020.
Over the years, Dr. Vyas has been the recipient of numerous prestigious honors. He was awarded the President’s Medal in 1997 and a Commendation Certificate as the Best Forensic Science Laboratory Director at the 15th All India Forensic Science Conference in 2004. In 2008, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Forensic Chemistry from Amity University and AIIMS, New Delhi.
In recognition of his significant contributions to forensic science and engineering, he was conferred the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2022.
Under his visionary leadership, NFSU has forged numerous strategic collaborations, including MoUs with GCTC and ThinkTank, the Peninsula Foundation, and the Adani Group, signed on 2 March 2022.
Dr. Vyas is a celebrated forensic expert. While he may not have direct experience in the cooperative sector, his exceptional managerial skills and visionary outlook are expected to bridge that gap effectively, sources add.
