Sahakar Bharati was a prominent participant in a recent two day coordination meeting between the BJP and the RSS and its allied organizations on how to improve the BJP-led government’s economic policies. The meeting took place to analyze Gujarat’s poor performance.
Sahakar Bharati, among other things, suggested that while framing economic policies, the govt should sufficiently take into consideration the vital interests of the cooperative sector involved in creating economic activities for the grassroots of Indian society. It would therefore make sense to help them execute their responsibilities, Sahakar Bharati’s underscored.
The BJP was represented by Amit Shah, Jaitley and some ministers from the central government.
The meeting was attended by Sangh Joint General Secretary Krishna Gopal, leaders of RSS-affiliates, Sahakar Bharati, the Swadeshi Jagran Manch, the Bhartiya Kisan Sangh, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, the Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat and the Laghu Udyog Bharti, sources said.
But how much of Sahakar Bharati suggestion is valued can be understood from the fact that one of the participants to the meeting, Arun Jaitley launched a bombshell soon enough in Lok Sabha declaring that there would be no income tax rebate for profit making cooperative banks.
Earlier, in the results of Gujarat Assemble elections some of its top cooperators – Dileepbhai Sanghani, Shankarbhai L. Chaudhary and five-time MLA and Amul Dairy chairman Ramsinh Parmar had lost.
Anand- which is the hotbed of dairy co-op movement also largely went to the Congress fold with three of its contestants romping home. BJP’s could claim two seats here.
