Some of the high profile political leaders who were known as champions of the cause of cooperative movement have been denied ministerial berths in Narendra Modi’s cabinet which took oath on Thursday. Prominent among them are Suresh Prabhu and Radha Mohan Singh.

Modi took the oath along with his ministers, for the second consecutive term in the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.

Those who got the second term included Sadananda Gowda, a formidable name from South India , Parshottam Rupala and Gajendra Shekhawat, among others. Krishna Raj was also dropped.

There are several first-timers in Modi’s cabinet and the most prominent among them is BJP president Amit Shah.

While experts are analyzing the reasons behind dropping of Radha Mohan Singh and cite the failure of his ministry in making a difference to the farming sector, the omission of Suresh Prabhu has foxed them no end.

There were, however, several cooperators who also graced the swearing-in ceremony. These included NAFCUB President Jyotindra Mehta, Sahakar Bharati President Ramesh Vaidya, National General Secretary Uday Joshi, Sanjay Pachpor, NCDC governing council member and RBI Central Board director Satish Marathe, Uttarakhand State Cooperative Bank Chairman Dan Singh Rawat and others.
