Shah to Sawant: Ministers & CMs greet cooperators on All India Co-op Week

The 70th All India Cooperative Week kicked off with great enthusiasm on Tuesday from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Indian Cooperative.com received scores of mails from cooperators as well as cooperative societies related to the celebrations.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah greeted the nation on this occasion through a written message. In his message, Shah said it is a matter of great pleasure that the 70th All India Cooperative Week is celebrated keeping in mind the role of cooperatives in the country’s 5 trillion-dollar economy and the Sustainable Development Goals.

“I am confident that the All India Cooperative Week will prove helpful in making mainstream economic strategies and future plans”, he added in his message shared by NCUI through their twitter wall.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated a series of initiatives aimed at fostering the cooperative movement in the UT and Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant participated in a program organized by the Department of Cooperation.

The chief minister of Tripura, and the cooperation ministers of Goa, Odisha, Bihar, Meghalaya and Karnataka were actively engaging themselves in a series of events organized on the 1st day of the week-long celebration of the cooperative week.

In J&K, while participating in a function Sinha launched many new things including onboarding of 537 PACS as CSC, 169 PACS as Kisan Samridhi Kendra, 25 PACS as PM Jan Aushadi Kendras. Sinha said these will open new avenues for cooperatives and establish a transformative business model. These strategic moves are poised to create opportunities and enhance the role of cooperatives in the region, he added.

In Goa, the state Chief Minister Pramod P Sawant inaugurated the 70th National Co-operative Week-2023 on the theme – Role of Cooperative in $5 Trillion Economy and SDGs organised by the Department of Co-operation and attended by Cooperative Minister Subhash Shirodhar, NABARD General Manager Shri Milind Bhirud and others.

In his speech, Sawant said, “I am confident that by strengthening the cooperative sector through digitization and other innovative initiatives, Goa is successfully progressing toward achieving Swayampurnata”.

In Tripura, the state Chief Minister Manik Saha addressed a meeting on the occasion of the observance of the 70th All India Cooperative Week at Agartala Town Hall. In his address, he said, “Cooperative societies play a significant role in ensuring progress”.

In Odisha, the state cooperation minister Atanu Sabhyasachi Nayak flagged off the Walkathon from Master Canteen Square at 6:30 am on Tuesday. On the occasion, prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions at the State Cooperative Bank premises.

In Bihar, the state cooperation minister Surendra Yadav participated in a function organized at Patna in which Bihar State Cooperative Bank Chairman Ramesh Chaubey, PACS Chairman, DCCBs Chairmen,many farmers and others were present.

In Meghalaya, the state minister-in-charge of the cooperative department Comingone Ymbon inaugurated the 70th All India Cooperative Week celebrations at Moosyiem Shangpung, West Jaintia Hills district.

The event was organized by the cooperation department in collaboration with Meghalaya Cooperative Apex bank and others. Addressing the gathering, the Minister underscored the significance of strengthening the cooperative movement for collective growth.

In Karnataka, the state cooperation minister K N Rajanna participated in a function organized at Shimoga City and he laid emphasis on attracting the youth towards the cooperative sector.

Seminars, workshops and other events were also organized by various cooperatives at national, state and district level. The cooperative flag was hoisted in various cooperative premises.

Pune based cooperative institution- Vamnicom celebrated the All India Cooperative Week by hoisting the Cooperative Flag. Dr. A K Asthana, HoC-ME, addressed the Faculty and Staff, highlighting the recent developments in the cooperative sector.
