Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will address the 92nd General Council meeting of the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the NCDC headquarters in Delhi.
The General Council, comprising 51 members, is the apex decision-making body of NCDC and lays down guidelines to promote and finance cooperative development across agriculture, rural infrastructure, and allied sectors.
The meeting is expected to focus on strengthening the cooperative movement, enhancing financial support to societies, and promoting innovation and technology adoption in rural areas.
Shah’s address is expected to reiterate the government’s vision of “Sahakar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation) and chart the path for sustainable growth and empowerment of rural communities through cooperatives.
NCDC has witnessed remarkable growth over the past decade. Its disbursements have surged nearly 17 times, from Rs 5,735.51 crore in 2014–15 to Rs 95,182.88 crore in 2024–25. In the current financial year 2025–26, the corporation has already disbursed Rs 49,799.06 crore, reinforcing its pivotal role in India’s cooperative resurgence.
In 2014–15, NCDC’s total disbursement stood at Rs 5,735.51 crore. By 2024–25, this figure had jumped to an impressive Rs 95,182.88 crore.
The sustained surge reflects both NCDC’s strengthened institutional capacity and the government’s consistent thrust on “Sahkar Se Samriddhi”- prosperity through cooperation- as it continues to empower cooperatives across agriculture, dairy, fisheries, and allied sectors.
Through its growing financial support and strategic initiatives, NCDC continues to play a pivotal role in empowering farmers, women, and marginalized groups, driving India’s journey towards self-reliance and sustainable rural prosperities.
