Shah lists new initiatives at Amreli; lauds Amar Dairy & Amreli DCCB

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah addressed the Sahakar Sammelan – AGM of major cooperatives of Amreli district at Amreli, Gujarat on Sunday. NCUI President and Amreli’s popular co-operator Dileep Sanghani was the host.

Speaking on the occasion Amit Shah said that a center is going to be built in Amreli to promote, preserve and improve the breed of Gir cow. He said PM has created the Ministry of Cooperation to further strengthen the cooperative movement in the country and make crores of farmers prosperous.

Shah also lauded Amreli District Intermediary Co-operative Bank and traced its phenomenal growth from 1995 to 2022. Lauding Amar Dairy he said it used to process 2500 liters of milk in 2002 but today 1,25,000 liters of milk is being processed here. Today all the dairies of Saurashtra are running very well and our sisters are getting their money, he added.

Shah said Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has also laid great emphasis on natural farming, organic products will give health benefits to our country and people around the world and farmers will also get a good rate of produce.

Listing the new initiatives, the Minister said that we are also going to form Multistate Co-operative Society to make high yielding seeds. In this year’s budget, the alternate tax on cooperative markets has been reduced from 18.5% to 15% and surcharge from 12% to 7%., he added.

The central government is also working on creating a national database of cooperatives, we are also working towards making PACS multi-purpose. By computerization of primary farmer circles and service cooperative circles, the work of connecting them with district, state and NABARD has been done by the Modi government at the Center.

Today there are 65 thousand PACS (PACS) in the country and this number will be increased from 65 thousand to 3 lakh in five years.

The Modi government has given about Rs 2516 crore for the computerization of PACS, the government is also working on bringing a new cooperative policy which will add health, insurance, transportation, tourism etc. activities in the cooperative.

He said that today there are 65 thousand packs (PACS) and we have set a target that this number will be increased from 65 thousand to 3 lakh in five years and the program of making packs will start from December this year.
