Shah committed to ensure return of every pai to Sahara investors: Verma

In a reply to a question by Bihar BJP leader Sushil Modi on Sahara refund, MoS Cooperation B L Verma said that Union Minister Amit Shah is committed to ensure return of each pai to the investors of Sahara cooperatives.

Verma also informed the House that so far three crore investors have applied for the refund. He mentioned the transparent procedure adopted by his ministry under the guidance of Amit Shah to process the requests.

Verma said that his senior minister Shah has instructed officials to see to it that no investor is left in the lurch. “Every pai of them would be returned”, said Verma with an emphasis.

It bears recall that the Ministry has so far got about Rs 5000 crores from the SEBI following the Supreme Court Direction. Verma said that the government will knock the door of the apex court again to get more funds from the Sahara Group once this amount is returned to the depositors.

Three crore investors want a refund of Rs 80,000 crore stuck with the company’s cooperative societies. Verma said that the aim of the Ministry is to return the money within 45 days of the application.

He also said that the government is first focussing on small investors and ensuring they get back their money.

Earlier, Union Minister Amit Shah said “payment upto Rs.10,000/- is being disbursed to each genuine depositor of the Sahara Group of Cooperative Societies against verified claims through Aadhaar seeded Bank account.”

For the depositors, whose claims could not be processed due to deficiencies observed in their claims, “CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal (Resubmission)” https://mocresubmit.crcs.gov.in has been launched for re-submission of claims in a phased manner after rectification of such deficiencies.

Applications received on the Portal are being processed in a transparent manner and on proper identification and on submitting proof of their identity and deposits. The payment is being deposited directly in Aadhaar seeded bank accounts of genuine depositors, Shah underlined.

It bears recall that following the Supreme Court’s Order, an Online Portal CRCS-Sahara refund portal was launched earlier. Many investors complained that their forms are not being accepted.
