Several Co-operators including Patil & Rajanna win in Karnataka elections

Several co-operators connected with Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress and Janata Dal (Secular), who tried their luck in the Karnataka assembly elections, have romped home while a few failed to win the elections.

Some of the notable winners included Nafcub’s H K Patil, Karnataka State Cooperative Bank Former President K N Rajanna, National Cooperative Housing Federation Director S T Somashekhar, Shri Beereshwar Cooperative Credit Society Director Shashikala A. Jolle, Karnataka Cooperative Milk Federation (Nandini) Chairman Balachandra Jarkiholi and others.

The well-known cooperator and Karnataka Urban Cooperative Banks Federation Chairman H K Patil, who contested on Congress ticket, won the election with good margins. He got 88,986 while his rival from Bharatiya Janata Party Anil Menasinakai received 73,820 votes.

Besides, Karnataka State Cooperative Apex Bank Former Chairman and Tumkur DCCB President K N Rajanna of Congress defeated his rival with huge margins. Rajanna got 90,334 votes while his rival M.V.Veerabhadraiah from JDS received 55,062 votes.

Similarly, Karnataka State Cooperative Housing Federation President S T Somashekhar who fought the election from Yeshvanthapura constituency on BJP ticket, has won the election. Somashekar received 1,68,485 votes whereas his rival T N Javarayi Gowda got 1,53,557 votes.

Shri Beereshwar Cooperative Credit Society Director Shashikala A. Jolle won the election from Nipani constituency. She fought the election on a BJP ticket and defeated her rival Uttam Patil from NCP with narrow margins.

Karnataka Cooperative Milk Federation (Nandini) Chairman Balachandra Jarkiholi who contested the election on the BJP ticket from Arabhavi, was elected with good margins. He got 1,14,242 votes while his rival Arvind Dalwai received only 23,820 votes.

BJP Candidate and Prabhulingeshwar Souharda Credit Cooperative Society President Jagadeesh Gudagunti won the election from Jamkhandi whereas another BJP candidate Bellad Bagewadi Urban Souharda Sahakari Bank former Chairman lost the election. Katti was defeated by the Congress candidate Ganesh Hukkeri.

Siddhasiri Souharda Sahakari Niyamit Chairman Basangouda Patil Yatnal contested the election on BJP ticket and got 93,326 votes while his rival of INC Abdul Musharraf received 85,442 votes.

Kalaburagi-Yadgir District Central Cooperative Bank Chairman and BJP candidate Rajkumar Telkur lost the election by huge margins. He was defeated by congress candidate Sharanprakash Patil.

The others winning candidates included, Mahalakshmi Cooperative Bank Chairman and BJP Candidate Yashpal A Suvarna, Tumkur DCCB Director and Congress Candidate K Shadakshari, Karnataka State Cooperative Federation Chairman and JDS candidate G T Devegowda, Hassan Milk Producers’ Union President and JDS candidate H D Revanna and others.

In the Karnataka Assembly election, Congress won 136 seats crossing the 113 mark needed for a majority. The BJP won only 64 seats.
