The Sahkar Bharati Agra division held a pivotal meeting last week at Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Kamla Nagar, focusing on the expansion of the cooperative movement and its role in rural development, women’s empowerment, and economic self-reliance. The event brought together national and state-level leaders who emphasized the need to strengthen cooperatives as a means of fostering community-driven progress.
National Vice President and Uttar Pradesh Incharge Sunil Gupta stressed the significance of cooperatives in uniting communities and ensuring economic self-sufficiency. He encouraged members to actively contribute to the growth of the organization and explore new avenues to strengthen cooperative initiatives. Gupta highlighted that a robust cooperative network is crucial for India’s vision of self-reliance and sustainable development.
State General Secretary Arvind Dubey echoed this sentiment, calling for dedicated volunteers to drive the cooperative movement forward. He emphasized that cooperatives play a key role in economic stability and social progress, urging members to bring more people into the fold to expand their reach.
Agra Division Coordinator Rakesh Shukla reiterated Sahkar Bharati’s commitment to rural economic development, stating that stronger cooperatives would lead to local job creation and long-term prosperity. He pointed out that an extensive cooperative network could provide farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs with better opportunities and financial security.
Women’s empowerment was a key focus of the meeting, with Uttar Pradesh Women’s Wing Head Minakshi Rai highlighting the transformative role of cooperatives in achieving financial independence for women. She stressed that active participation in cooperative ventures would not only strengthen women’s economic standing but also enhance their decision-making power within households and communities.
One of the major outcomes of the meeting was the announcement of a new goal to induct 500 new members by March 31, reflecting a strategic push to expand the cooperative movement. Leaders emphasized that growing membership would amplify the sector’s impact, enabling more people to benefit from cooperative initiatives.
Additionally, discussions covered key areas such as leveraging cooperatives for rural transformation, increasing agricultural productivity, and introducing innovative schemes to support small businesses. Leaders also examined ways to enhance collaboration between cooperatives and government initiatives to maximize their reach.
The session was presided over by national executive member Karuna Nagar and conducted by Agra Division Coordinator Rakesh Shukla. Senior leaders, cooperative workers, and women members were in attendance, reinforcing the importance of grassroots participation in strengthening the cooperative ecosystem.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to expanding cooperatives, empowering rural communities, and encouraging inclusive participation, marking a significant step toward realizing Sahkar Bharati’s vision for a self-reliant and prosperous India.
