A two-day cooperative training workshop jointly organised by Sahakar Bharati and the National Institute of Agricultural Higher Processing (NIAP), Namkum, Ranchi, began this week with strong participation from cooperative leaders and experts. The event was inaugurated in the presence of RBI and NABARD Director Satish Marathe, who served as the chief guest.
Marathe outlined Sahakar Bharati’s journey from its early beginnings to its presence in over 600 districts across India, emphasising the power of cooperatives in transforming rural livelihoods. He underlined that cooperatives can become key drivers in warehousing, food processing, fisheries, and dairy sectors, helping increase farmers’ incomes while strengthening the national economy through self-reliant growth.
The proceedings opened with Sahakar Bharati Jharkhand State President Dr Amrendra Pathak introducing the participants and highlighting the state’s growing role in the cooperative movement. The inaugural address was delivered by Manoj Pandey from the National Highways Authority of India, who spoke on the importance of building institutional support and infrastructure for cooperative-led growth.
NIAP Director Dr Abhijeet, in his technical presentation, shared insights on new agricultural innovations and value-chain models. He cited success stories such as the “Lakh Se Lakhpati Didi” initiative, which empowers rural women through skill development and entrepreneurship, and new ventures in honey processing and agri-marketing through inter-institutional partnerships. He also proposed the establishment of a modern food testing laboratory in Ranchi to ensure better quality assurance for agricultural and dairy products.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Sahakar Bharati State General Secretary Dhananjay Singh. The camp drew 95 delegates from 14 districts, alongside regional and organisational leaders and representatives from Sudha and Medha Dairy.
Though direct social media updates are still emerging, posts from various Sahakar Bharati state chapters and cooperative circles have echoed appreciation for the event. Early updates highlighted the active participation of young cooperative professionals and women entrepreneurs, reflecting growing enthusiasm for innovation-driven community development.
The Ranchi workshop reaffirmed Sahakar Bharati’s commitment to promoting self-sustaining rural cooperatives and encouraging local entrepreneurship, ensuring that the cooperative model continues to serve as a pillar of inclusive growth and national progress.
