Tapping into the wide customer base online, the Puducherry State Co-operative Handicrafts and Handloom Federation Limited has tied up with shopping website Snapdeal to sell products like incense sticks ,leather and hand made paper items and terracotta products online, reports the Hindu.
The products from Puducherry will join products from different places on Snapdeal, a showcase of the variety of collectibles and regional artefacts from across the country.
The e-commerce major already has similar tie-ups with the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited, handicrafts federations from other States such as Tamil Nadu, and DharaviMarket.com, which sources products from businesses in Dharavi, Mumbai.
The Puducherry State Co-operative Handicrafts and Handloom Federation has around 20 cooperative societies or units as members, and works as a coordinating and marketing agency for them.
On Snapdeal, the products will be available under the brand name, Artisanat, which the federation has been using.
