Marathon meetings of the interim boards of the three national level co-ops conceptualized to boost Seed procurement, securing market for organic stuff and Boosting export of co-op products took place at the NDDB office in Delhi on Monday in which several top-notch co-operators participated.

The separate meeting for each co-op had participants drawn from all the promoter co-ops such as IFFCO, Kribhco, GCMMF, NDDB and Nafed. NCDC MD Panakaj Bansal was the chief architect of the meeting.

Amul Chairman Shamal Patel and Managing Director Jayen Mehta, NDDB Chairman Meenesh Shah, IFFCO’s Joint MD Rakesh Kapur and its Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar, Nafed’s AK Rath, Kribhco’s Vinod Tomar were some of the participants. Kribhco Chairman Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav was also expected to join but he could not make it due to his preoccupations.

Tweeting about the meeting Meenesh Shah, NDDB Chairman wrote in Hindi “Kribhco received the Registration papers as the Chief Promoter with NDDB, NCDC, IFFCO and Nafed as co-op promoters in a meeting held at NDDB office in Delhi.

During the meeting of Organics MSCS, promoters deliberated on plans to kickstart operations in mission mode. Meenesh Shah said NDDB along with other promoters will leave no stone unturned to harness the potential.

Several tweets that followed after the meeting gave a sample of the determination of the participants. A sample “welcomed promoters of three pathbreaking Multi State Cooperative Societies incorporated to bring about #SahkarSeSamriddhi in the field of Organics, Seeds and Export during their Interim Board meetings held at NDDB, Delhi.

Chairman, NDDB as Chief promoter received Certificate of Registration of National Cooperative Organics Ltd from MD, NCDC at NDDB Delhi where Interim Board Meeting was organised under the Chairmanship of Meenesh Shah.

Talking to the Indian Cooperative, one of the participants informed me that it was decided to meet more frequently as a lot of work needs to be done. A website for each national co-op is being created along with a massive hunt of suitable candidates to head the body, he added on condition of anonymity.

The participants felt that the professionals having MBAs from IIMs or institutes of equal repute should be drafted. The advertisement for the same is being mooted, said one of the participants adding that Logos & Charters are also in the making.

It bears recalling that last month the government floated the idea of setting up three ambitious multistate co-ops with the help of some top brands including Amul, IFFCO, Kribhco, Nafed and NDDB. These national level co-ops would address three key components of agriculture which include seed, organic products and export of co-op products abroad.
