Political diktat: Sunil exhorts cooperators to fight back

Giving a clarion call in support of Uttrakhand’s ace cooperator Promod Kumar Singh, Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Kumar Singh has asked every cooperator to resist blatant political interference. “We should swim or sink together”, he stressed.

It bears recall that with the BJP in the ascendant in Uttrakhand, opposition alleges a systematic attempt is underway to weaken co-operatives and finish those owing allegiance to Congress. Pramod Kumar Singh, being an avowed Congressman has become a victim of this organized campaign to” clean up ” the cooperative sector, say cooperators of the state.

Asking all the senior cooperators in the country as well as the apex body NCUI to join in the fight Sunil Singh writes “it is my opinion that efforts to repress cooperators by illegitimate means by the ruling party must be resisted by all of us.”

“I have suffered it several times in my state and I am ever ready with my fighting gloves on to respond to such challenges”, underlined Biscomaun Chairman.

Explaining the common plot which is enacted each time there is a change in the govt, Biscomaun Chairman says the first target of new govt is invariably cooperative bodies which they intend to fill up with people of their choice. “This is shameless”, he says in anguish.

Sunil also says that in order to cow them down new govts even slap fictitious corruption charges on cooperators who are not willing to knuckle under. It bears recall that the Uttrakhand govt has accused Pramod of making off with Rs 17.5 crore in two factories including Nainital based Soybean Factory and Ranikhet based Drug Factory being run by the state cooperative union headed by Singh.

The dominant political leadership would even go so far as tweaking co-operative acts to subdue their opponents, felt Sunil. Reminding political leadership of seven colors of cooperative, Sunil argues that cooperative is above narrow political affiliations. It is above caste and creed, he added.

Cooperators who are true to their salt have the sole motto of serving people. They forget their political affiliations as long as they are within the four walls of cooperative, Biscomaun Chairman tried to sketch out the text-book definition of a true cooperator in a few words. “Unfortunately these politicians fail to see this”, he noted.
