Ahmednagar (Maharashtra) based Lokseva Multistate Credit Cooperative Society is emerging as a frontline agro business cooperative with a network of agro store houses spread in different districts of Maharashtra and Goa.
Talking to Indian Cooperative its Chairman Nakul Patil said “We are a multipurpose Society working in finance and Agro sector rendering services to our members.”
“At present our society is having 10 agro stores across the state of Maharashtra and Goa, which are working for the farmers and providing them all the agriculture related inputs under one roof”, Patil added.
Though small in size as of now, its ambition is however not small. The society is working hard and its founder Chairman Nakul Patil is busy touring different parts of the country and seeking support of cooperators.
Patil came to Delhi and met Nafed Managing Director Sanjeev Chadha urging him to open Nafed outlets as well as carry out procurement work in collaboration with our society. MD assured me that he would consider it sympathetically, said Patil.
Patil also met NCUI Chairman Dileep Sanghani recently and briefed him about the fertilizer business of the society. Discussions were also held regarding the participation of youths in the cooperative movement and opportunities for them in the cooperative movement.
Established in 2016 and inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Rao Saheb Patil Danve, Lokseva Multistate Credit Cooperative Society aims to take the business to the 100-crore mark in the span of two years.
“We achieved a turnover of Rs 12 cr in the last financial year and in the next 2 years we have targeted to reach 100 cr turnover along with the expansion of 25 more Agro stores for the farmers with the help of IFFCO, KRIBHCO AND NAFED”.
Due to the pandemic growth of Lokseva Multistate Credit Cooperative Society halted somewhat but the Chairman sounded confident of turning around the business. He said, due to unforeseen developments, the growth of the society was checked but with the situation becoming normal we would do our best in the interest of farmers.
“We and our stores are also educating farmers about soil health and related issues. We recently tied-up with Bayer Crop Science, which creates awareness among the farmers about agriculture”, he underlined.
