PACS: Names deleted from voters’ list

JITANFarmers are up in arms in the Mahua block in the Vaishali district of Bihar. They are complaining of deletion of their names from the voter list of Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies election.

The election is scheduled for 16th of September, about a fortnight from now. Farmers say that their names are not in the list at the behest of cooperative mafias.

The agitated farmers accuse the BDO of being hand in glove with the cooperative mafias. BDO has deliberately deleted our names from the voters’ list, they complained.

Their anger soon turned violent as they sealed the BDO office and shouted slogans. A cornered BDO finally assuaged them with the advice of rectifying the error. BDO asked them to come with original papers on coming Monday.

Talking to the media at the block office of Mahua, the farmers accused the current PACS Chairman and cooperative officials for this lapse. It was not innocent but deliberate, they alleged.
