India’s cooperative movement is steadily emerging as a powerful force on the global stage, driven by trust, collective strength, and shared economic progress. In this direction, National Cooperative Exports Limited is playing a transformative role in taking cooperative products beyond domestic markets and establishing their presence internationally. The initiative reflects a broader vision of positioning cooperatives as key contributors to India’s export economy.

NCEL is currently exporting 54 different cooperative products to 29 countries, with a total export value reaching Rs 5,731 crore. This achievement marks a significant milestone in integrating cooperative institutions with global trade networks, thereby enhancing farmers’ income and creating new economic opportunities. The expansion also highlights the growing acceptance of Indian cooperative products in international markets.

To strengthen this outreach, NCEL has actively developed new markets and forged trade relationships across regions. It has entered into strategic collaborations through Memorandums of Understanding with foreign agencies, export promotion councils, and cooperative organisations. These partnerships are aimed at easing trade processes, ensuring quality compliance, and building sustainable export linkages for the long term.

The organisation has also adopted a structured approach by creating dedicated verticals for key product categories such as fruits and vegetables, grains, and spices. This sector-focused strategy enables better coordination, improved supply chain management, and targeted marketing efforts, ensuring that products meet international standards and demand patterns.

A major highlight of NCEL’s efforts is the introduction of a multilingual AI-enabled digital learning platform for farmers. This platform equips them with essential knowledge on export procedures, quality benchmarks, packaging standards, and global market trends. By empowering farmers with information and skills, NCEL is helping them become active participants in the export ecosystem rather than just producers.

In addition to traditional agricultural commodities, NCEL is expanding into emerging sectors such as aquaculture, where it is acting as a merchant exporter for shrimp and other aquatic products. This diversification is expected to unlock high-value export opportunities and broaden the scope of cooperative participation in global trade.

NCEL is also promoting Indian cooperative products through international exhibitions and buyer-seller meets, creating visibility and direct engagement with global buyers. These initiatives are reinforcing India’s commitment to the vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi,” ensuring that the benefits of globalisation reach grassroots-level producers.
