The occasion was graced by Dr. Bijender Singh, Vice President, NCUI; Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, Chief Executive; and Savitri Singh, Deputy Chief Executive. NCUI employees expressed collective pride, acknowledging Dr. Yadav’s impactful leadership and his sustained efforts to advance the cooperative movement across the Asia-Pacific region.
Dr. Chandrapal Singh Yadav, a distinguished leader of the Indian cooperative movement, has been re-elected unopposed as President of the International Cooperative Alliance Asia-Pacific (ICA-AP) during the recent Regional Assembly held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
This unanimous mandate not only reflects the trust of member organisations from across the Asia-Pacific region but also underscores India’s growing influence in cooperative governance on the global stage.

The ICA-AP is one of the four regional offices of the global International Cooperative Alliance, representing cooperatives spread across Asia and the Pacific. It works to promote cooperative identity, education, advocacy, and policy dialogue among its member federations and institutions. Founded in 1960 with its headquarters in New Delhi, ICA-AP plays a pivotal role in strengthening cooperative enterprises, especially in sectors like agriculture, credit, consumer goods, and youth engagement.
Dr. Yadav’s journey to this leadership role has been both longstanding and impactful. A frontline leader with over three decades of experience in cooperative development, he began his cooperative career in the 1980s as a member of a village-level primary society. Over the years, he moved through district and state cooperative institutions in Uttar Pradesh, serving on boards and eventually chairing major organisations such as the Krishak Bharati Cooperative Ltd. (KRIBHCO) and the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Marketing Federation.
He also held key positions with national bodies including the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India (NCCF), the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED), and the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), where he served as President for over a decade.
Dr. Yadav’s association with ICA-AP began in 2010 when he became involved with the regional board while serving as Chairman of NCUI. He was subsequently elected Vice-President of ICA-AP in 2012 and again in 2016. In November 2021 at the 15th Regional Assembly in Seoul, he was first elected as President of ICA-AP, leading the organisation through a period of strategic focus on cooperative identity, training, and inclusive development.
