In a significant development ahead of the National Co-operative Union of India (NCUI) Governing Council elections, the Office of the Co-operative Election Authority (CEA) has revised the election schedule, granting additional time for member societies to submit the names of their delegates.
Acting on a request from the Returning Officer (RO) and District Magistrate, South Delhi, the CEA extended the deadline for receiving delegate resolutions from member societies from June 11 to June 16, 2026. The request cited the district administration’s preoccupation with disaster management-related duties.
Consequently, the publication of the provisional list of delegates (group-wise and constituency-wise) has been rescheduled from June 12 to June 16, with the list to be published by Tuesday evening.
The period for filing objections to the provisional list has also been revised. Objections can now be submitted between June 16 and June 20, instead of the earlier schedule of June 15 to June 19.
The CEA has also revised the schedule for examination and verification of delegate-related documents, which will now be carried out on June 15 and 16.
According to the order issued by the Co-operative Election Authority on June 11, all other stages of the election programme will remain unchanged. The Authority also clarified that the instructions contained in its earlier order dated May 7, 2026, shall continue to apply.
The Returning Officer has been directed to ensure wide publicity of the revised schedule by displaying it on the NCUI website and notice board and by informing member societies through email.
The revised schedule was approved by the Co-operative Election Authority following representations from the Returning Officer citing the district administration’s preoccupation with disaster management-related responsibilities.
