NCOL, Amazon join hands to take Bharat Organics Nationwide

In a significant move to strengthen market access for cooperative farmers and promote organic products across the country, the National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amazon India in New Delhi on Monday. The agreement was signed in the presence of Dr. Ashish Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, and senior officials from both organisations.

The partnership aims to leverage Amazon’s extensive e-commerce ecosystem, professional cataloguing support and pan-India logistics network to enhance the visibility and availability of NCOL’s flagship “Bharat Organics” products. The initiative is aligned with the Ministry of Cooperation’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi”, seeking to provide farmer cooperatives with wider market access while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for cooperative members.

The MoU was signed by NCOL Managing Director Vipul Mittal and representatives of Amazon India. The signing ceremony was attended by Raman Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, along with senior officials from NCOL, Amazon India and the Ministry.

Under the agreement, certified organic products sourced from cooperative farmers across India will be marketed through Amazon’s online platform, enabling consumers nationwide to access authentic organic food products under the Bharat Organics brand. The collaboration is expected to strengthen farmer-to-consumer linkages and improve returns for organic producers.

Established in 2023 under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act with the support of the Ministry of Cooperation, NCOL serves as an umbrella organisation for aggregation, certification, testing, branding and marketing of organic products produced by cooperatives. It is promoted by leading cooperative institutions including the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), GCMMF (Amul), NAFED, NCCF and NCDC.

Over the past year, NCOL has significantly expanded its footprint in the organic products segment. The organisation currently markets dozens of products under the Bharat Organics brand, including pulses, rice, flours, spices, dry fruits and natural sweeteners. It has also established partnerships with several digital commerce platforms to broaden consumer access.

Earlier, NCOL signed agreements with quick-commerce platform Zepto and online grocery services to strengthen retail distribution of Bharat Organics products. In March this year, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Bharat Organics direct-to-consumer (D2C) platform, further expanding digital sales channels for cooperative-produced organic goods.

According to official data, NCOL has emerged as a major national platform for organic cooperatives, with more than 11,000 member cooperatives and products available through retail and e-commerce channels across several states. The latest collaboration with Amazon is expected to accelerate the growth of India’s cooperative organic sector while bringing certified organic products closer to consumers nationwide.
