NCCF may be down but not the consumer co-ops of Rajasthan!

With the fate of NCCF-the apex body of consumer co-ops in doldrums, it is heartening to note that some of the consumers co-ops are doing a great job in the lockdown period. Some such examples are from Rajasthan where several consumer cooperatives are active in providing the essential food items to the public at reasonable prices.

In 50 days during the lockdown period, consumer cooperatives have provided essential items worth Rs 26.53 crore at the doorstep in 30 districts of Rajasthan. Jodhpur consumer cooperatives registered the highest sale worth Rs 9 crore.

Apart from providing essential items, consumer cooperatives have also donated 2.37 lakh kits to the needy in 10 districts of Rajasthan. Over 500 vehicles and 1500 employees delivered goods in the state. Mobile vans have toured 12 thousand times in different parts of the state.

Meanwhile, the State government led by Ashok Gehlot is giving the incentive money to the employees for doing remarkable work at consumer co-ops.

The corona warriors of cooperatives have proved the strength of cooperatives by offering their services especially in the areas under curfew in the state.

The food vans of consumer co-ops were monitored by the district level sub registrar.

It is reported that consumer cooperatives have provided essential items to over 10.68 lakh families during the lockdown. Whereas Jodhpur consumer co-ops reached 3.94 lakh families which is the highest in number.

Besides, Jodhpur Consumer co-ops, Sriganganagar registered 3.16 crore sale whereas co-ops in Bhilwara registered the sale of 2.78 crore.

The co-ops are providing essential items in rural and urban areas at a reasonable price. These co-ops have also provided essential items in remote areas.

Due to the lockdown in the country, it became a challenge to deliver essential items at the doorstep of people at reasonable rates but consumer cooperatives have played a very specific role in delivering the quality items at reasonable rates.
