The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) reported a strong financial performance for 2025-26, with a turnover of Rs 29,884.72 crore and a net profit of Rs 423.14 crore. The Federation also announced a 15% dividend for member federations and societies at its 69th Annual General Body Meeting (AGM), held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, on September 26.

The AGM witnessed the participation of more than 700 delegates representing member societies and state federations from across the country.

Addressing the gathering, NAFED Chairman Jethabhai Ahir highlighted the Federation’s role in implementing various components of the government’s PM-AASHA scheme, including the Price Support Scheme (PSS), Price Stabilisation Fund (PSF), Price Deficiency Payment Scheme (PDPS) and Private Procurement and Stockist Scheme (PPSS). These initiatives aim to support farmers and help stabilise agricultural commodity prices.

Ahir said NAFED was expanding its retail presence, with plans to establish 50 additional stores through Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), cooperative societies and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). The Federation is also widening the market for its products, including premix tea, biscuits and juice, through supplies to Indian Railways via IRCTC.

Highlighting its initiatives in the fisheries sector, the Chairman said NAFED had revived 500 fisheries cooperative societies and facilitated the formation of 50 Fish FPOs, benefiting more than 50,000 farmers.

In his keynote address, NAFED Managing Director outlined the Federation’s strategy to strengthen financial sustainability through retail expansion, monetisation of properties and exports. NAFED products are being taken to international markets, including the UAE and Canada.

The Federation is also expanding its institutional market outreach. Plans include the upcoming launch of Bharat Rice for the Indian Army, empanelment of NAFED products with Canteen Stores Department (CSD) canteens, and supplying FMCG products through train breakfast services.

Under the government’s FPO promotion initiative, NAFED is providing handholding support to 1,274 FPOs. Hiring assurances have also been provided for 345 godowns under the Bhandaran Yojana, strengthening its storage-related activities.

Digital transformation featured prominently in the Managing Director’s address. NAFED is using platforms such as e-Samriddhi, ERP, NAFEX.in and DRISHTI to improve transparency, efficiency and service delivery. The e-Samriddhi platform incorporates Aadhaar-seeded direct benefit transfer and biometric-enabled farmer registration. Its integration with NCCF’s e-Samyukti under PM-AASHA is intended to provide farmers with a unified platform for registration and the sale of produce.

The ERP system supports paperless operations and real-time financial reconciliation, while DRISHTI enables end-to-end inventory monitoring. NAFEX.in, NAFED’s e-auction platform, is also proposed to be made available to other organisations on a commission-based model.

Reaffirming its commitment to farmers’ welfare, the Managing Director highlighted the Kalyan Scholarship Scheme. Under the initiative, 1% of NAFED’s net profit will be allocated for scholarships for children of farmers registered on e-Samriddhi, with financial assistance of up to Rs 1 lakh per student.

Vice Chairman Tarlok Singh delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contribution of delegates and the collective efforts of the NAFED team.

The Federation reiterated its commitment to ensuring remunerative prices for farmers’ produce while expanding market access and strengthening cooperative-led agricultural services.
