MP: Minister meets co-operators; discusses co-op issues

Madhya Pradesh Cooperative Minister Arvind Singh Bhadoria recently addressed a meeting of cooperators organized in his ministry in which cooperators urged the minister to give extension for conducting the Annual General Meetings in the wake of Covid-19.

The meeting was attended by over 20 cooperators associated with different cooperatives of the state. Those present included former Madhya Pradesh State Apex Cooperative Bank Chairman and MP from Vidisha Ramakant Bhargava, Sahakar Bharati State President Vivek Chaturvedi, Arun Singh Tomar, Ujjain DCCB Chairman Kisan Singh Bhatol, Indore Paraspar UCB Director Shekar Kibe, among others.

Co-operators on the occasion gave several suggestions for strengthening the cooperative movement in the state. One of the participants Shekar Kibe talking to Indian Cooperative said, “We have requested the minister to release the notification for extending the AGMs due to Covid-19. According to the act we are supposed to organize AGMs before 31st September but in the wake of Covid-19, we have failed to meet the deadline”, he informed.

“Another suggestion made before the minister was extending the network of Cooperative Dudh Sangh. At present, there are over five Dudh Sangh (Milk Union) in the state and during the meeting we urged the minister to extend the network for removing obstacles”, Kibe said.

Kibe further added that, ”We have requested the minister to implement the one-time settlement scheme, so as to recover the money. The minister listened to our concern very patiently and assured all the issues will sooner than later be resolved “, he said with a sense of satisfaction.

The minister said a team of experts associated with cooperatives will be sent to Maharashtra and Gujarat for the study tour with an objective to strengthen the state cooperative sector.

There are over 55 Urban Cooperative Banks, 38 District Central Cooperative Banks and around one thousand PACCs in the state.

The meeting lasted one and a half hours. Soon after the meeting Bhadoria tweeted, “Today addressed the meeting related to the Department of Cooperation in the Ministry. Ramakant Bhargava, Member of Vidisha Parliamentary Constituency Vivek Chaturvedi, Subhash Mange, Kailash Patidar, Rajkumar Raizada, Kishan Singh Bhatol, Shivnarayan Patidar and others were present”.

Sadly, the meeting saw no representation from the Opposition parties including that from the Congress.
