MP: Co-op official lands in Jail

A former president of a cooperative society in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh has been found guilty under various sections of Indian Penal code by a special court of Economic Offences Wing and sentenced to four years’ imprisonment with a fine of Rs 25,000.

The accused Prem Singh Turkar then president of the Harsh Nagar cooperative society Maharajpur, Jabalpur had the Harsh Nagar Housing Construction Society formed for providing workers of vehicles factory with dwelling units.

The fake society was formed in 1982. Investigation also revealed the complicity of a land acquisition officer in the crime.
