Mix bag for co-operators in fray; Dhan Singh wins, Yashpal loses

Many cooperative leaders in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand had fought the Assembly elections from different party symbols but only few of them succeeded in winning the elections.

Several leaders who got defeated included IFFCO RGB Member Ankit Parihar, Meerut District Central Cooperative Bank Chairman Maninder Pal Singh, Azamgarh District Cooperative Bank former Director Arvind Jaiswal, Kribhco Chairman Chandra Pal Singh Yadav’s son Yashapal Singh Yadav and others.

One of the VIP seats in Uttarakhand namely Doiwala (Dehradun) was won by the BJP Candidate and UCF former Chairman Brij Bhushan Gairola with a huge majority defeating his rival Gaurav ( Ginni) from INC. This seat is a VIP seat because the State’s former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat was the sitting MLA from the constituency. However, he did not contest this time around.

IFFCO RGB Member Ankit Parihar fought the election on the Samajwadi Party ticket and lost by a margin of over 43k votes. And the seat has been won by the BJP’s candidate Ashutosh Shukla.

Similarly, Meerut DCCB Chairman Maninder Pal from BJP lost the election with a narrow margin and the seat was won by Rashtriya Lok Dal candidate Ghulam Mohammad. Besides, the former director of Azamgarh DCCB Arvind Jaiswsal fought the election from Mubarkpur, got only 51343 votes whereas his rival Akhilesh from the Samajwadi Party ticket got 79808 votes.

Parag Dairy (UP) former Chairman Nagendra Singh Rathore won the election on the BJP ticket and defeated his rival Arshad Jamal Siddique (Samajwadi Party) by a big margin of votes. This time Yashpal Singh Yadav (SP) got defeated in the election by BJP’s candidate Rajeev Singh Parichha with a margin of around 44k votes.

Uttarakhand Cooperative Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat who fought the elections on the BJP ticket from Srinagar Constituency, has won the seat again with a narrow margin.

BJP led by Yogi Aditya Nath won with a comfortable majority in Uttar Pradesh. Pushkar Singh Dhami himself lost but his party won in the state of Uttarakhand. In Goa and Manipur also, BJP scratched to victory. But Punjab was claimed by the AAP of Arvind Kejriwal.

Several co-operators took to social media to congratulate the winners. Sahakar Bharati National Secretary Uday Joshi greeted Yogi by posting a pic, taken earlier with the latter.
