The scheduled elections for the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Kribhco, planned for January 8, were postponed due to the preoccupation of the Returning Officer (RO) with preparations for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

Talking to the Indian Cooperative, outgoing Chairman Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav confirmed the development, stating that Kribhco’s office had received official communication citing the RO’s unavailability.

In a related matter, the Election Authority is yet to approve the results of the Board of Directors (BoD) elections. All 11 seats were filled unopposed, showcasing a spirit of cooperative unity in India’s second-largest fertilizer cooperative. However, objections arose regarding Gujarat’s representation on the board.

Kribhco’s bylaws mandate a maximum of two directors from any state, but three directors from Gujarat—Bhikhabhai Patel, Bipin Patel, and Maganbhai Vadavia—have been elected. Dr. Chandra Pal clarified that while the bylaws limit state representation, they exclude Federation directors from this cap.

He further explained that Gujarat’s unique case, involving constituencies exclusive to the state, complicates the exclusion process.

Kribhco’s management has provided a detailed explanation to the Election Authority, and a decision is expected by the end of the day.

Notably, Kribhco achieved an unprecedented milestone by electing an entirely new board unopposed, reflecting cooperative harmony.
