Kerala: Probe ordered in Cooperative run college

Many Professional courses are taught through colleges run by cooperatives in South India. Keral alone has large number of medical and engineering colleges run by Cooperatives. The cases of corruption have also been reported in them from time to time.

Change of government in Kerala has led to murmuring of charges against CPM led Cooperative college “Pariyaram Medical College” at Kannur.

The Kerala government on Friday ordered a probe into the admissions made to the CPI(M) controlled cooperative self-financing Pariyaram Medical College at Kannur during the last five years.

A high level three-member committee would look into the financial issues related to the admissions during the period, official sources said.

The committee has been asked to submit its report in three months, they said.

The probe was ordered in the wake of reports that admissions were made through payment, overlooking merit quota.
