Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited has expressed strong optimism after Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined the importance of nano fertilisers in Parliament, calling them a key driver for sustainable and self-reliant agriculture in India.
In its response, IFFCO thanked the Prime Minister for promoting awareness about nano fertilisers, describing the initiative as a visionary step towards reducing the country’s dependence on imported fertilisers and strengthening the rural economy. The cooperative said nano fertilisers not only lower input costs for farmers but also improve productivity, ensuring higher returns.
During his remarks, Modi highlighted that nano fertilisers represent a technological advancement capable of transforming Indian agriculture. He emphasised that their efficient nutrient delivery system enhances crop yield while significantly reducing excessive chemical usage.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that promoting such innovations is essential for achieving “Atmanirbhar Bharat” in agriculture and ensuring long-term soil health.
IFFCO, which has been at the forefront of developing and promoting nano fertilisers such as Nano Urea and Nano DAP, reiterated that the technology is already demonstrating tangible benefits across the country.
According to the cooperative, nano fertilisers enable precise nutrient application, leading to better absorption by plants and minimal wastage compared to conventional fertilisers.
The organisation further noted that nano fertilisers contribute significantly to environmental sustainability by reducing soil degradation, water contamination, and air pollution caused by excessive fertiliser use. By cutting down import dependency, they also help in conserving foreign exchange and strengthening India’s economic resilience.
IFFCO stated that the widespread adoption of nano fertilisers is steadily gaining momentum, supported by government initiatives, farmer awareness campaigns, and field demonstrations. The cooperative remains confident that with continued policy support and scientific outreach, nano fertilisers will play a transformative role in modernising Indian agriculture.
Experts believe that the Prime Minister’s endorsement in Parliament will further accelerate acceptance among farmers and stakeholders, reinforcing India’s shift towards innovative, cost-effective, and eco-friendly farming practices.
