IFFCO organizes Condolence meet; People pay glowing tributes

IFFCO Management lost no time in organizing a prayer meeting for its Chairman Late Balvinder Singh Nakai, who died Monday late evening after a prolonged illness.

The meeting was organized at IFFCO’s headquarters on Tuesday early morning in which IFFCO Vice-Chairman Dileep Sanghani, MD Dr U S Awasthi, H R Director R P Singh, Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar and several other senior officials were present.

IFFCO family members paid glowing tributes to the departed soul on the occasion. Members queued up to offer floral tributes and prayed to God to give strength to the bereaved family to endure this pain.

IFFCO Vice-Chairman Dileep Sanghani said, “We have lost a man whose first thought was always farmers. Nakai Saheb played a major role in taking the fertilizer cooperative to newer heights. His colossal contributions cannot be ignored and I pray for eternal peace to the departed soul & courage for the whole family to bear this irreparable loss”.

Remembering Nakai, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi became emotional and said, “I have had a relationship of over 41 years with him. He became a director to the board of IFFCO in 1977. Out of which, he was four-time Vice-Chairman and was elected as the Chairman in 2014. His conduct was so spotless that never ever any controversy could touch his persona”, said Awasthi in a choked voice.

Recalling his last meeting with him in the Hospital, Awasthi said, “I showed him the photographs of the event of the mega co-op conference recently held in Delhi. He had shared dais with Union Minister Amit Shah and his eyes brightened at the pics. Interestingly, he recognized everyone in the photos.”

“I pray to God to give enough strength to his family members to bear this profound grief & may the departed soul rest in peace”, said the MD who is known to enjoy trusting personal relationships with the late B S Nakai.

In the condolence meeting, several others shared their experiences with the Chairman. An ace cooperator from Uttar Pradesh Shishpal Singh Yadav said, We are stunned with the sudden demise of our beloved Chairman. Mild mannered Nakai saheb had always stood by the farmers. The IFFCO family will miss him.”

IFFCO Officers’ Union leader Jitendra Tiwari also remembered Nakai Saheb on the occasion and remembered his contributions. When Nakai saheb joined IFFCO, I was studying in school”, said Tiwary.

Co-op Relation point person at IFFCO, Tarun Bhargava said “We have lost a pillar of cooperative movement. Nakai Saheb was not only punctual but also religious, creating an ambience of peace whenever he went”, said Tarun.

On the occasion, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awathi also read several condolence messages including that of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Cooperative Minister of State B L Verma and others.

Nakai was born on December 5, 1934 in Bhatinda Punjab. He was a veteran co-operator and served cooperatives throughout his life.
