IFFCO Chairman welcomes OMIFCO Delegation, Focus on India-Oman Ties

IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani held a high-level meeting in New Delhi with a delegation from OMIFCO, reaffirming the strong and growing strategic partnership between India and Oman in the fertiliser sector.

The discussions focused on key operational, commercial, and future expansion aspects of OMIFCO, a flagship joint venture that has played a vital role in supporting India’s agricultural needs.

OMIFCO, established as a joint venture between Indian cooperatives and Oman’s energy sector, operates a large-scale ammonia-urea fertiliser complex in Sur, Oman. The company is jointly owned by OQ, IFFCO, and KRIBHCO, and has a production capacity of over 1.6 million tonnes of urea annually.

A significant portion of this output is exported to India under long-term agreements, ensuring a stable and reliable supply of fertilisers critical for the country’s food security.

During the meeting, both sides engaged in detailed and constructive discussions on strengthening operational efficiency, enhancing sustainability practices, and exploring opportunities for technological upgrades.

The dialogue also covered potential collaboration in emerging areas such as green ammonia, energy efficiency, and environmentally sustainable fertiliser production, in line with global trends.

Senior officials from OMIFCO and OQ, including top management representatives, participated in the discussions, while IFFCO’s leadership, including Managing Director K. J. Patel and other senior executives, were present.

The interaction was described as forward-looking and aligned with the shared vision of both countries to deepen economic cooperation.

Officials noted that OMIFCO stands as a symbol of successful India-Oman collaboration, contributing not only to agricultural productivity but also to strengthening bilateral economic ties.

The meeting is expected to open new avenues for partnership, reinforce supply chain resilience, and further solidify OMIFCO’s role in supporting sustainable agriculture and long-term food security objectives.
