IFFCO breaks past records: Sunil meets MD; calls him a magician

Biscomaun Chairman and NCUI’s Governing Council member Dr Sunil Kumar Singh met IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi in his office and called him the pride of the Indian cooperative movement.

Can you imagine a co-op body in the country ever earning a profit of Rs 2400 crore, said Sunil to this correspondent when the latter called him to know the details of the meeting. It needs no repetition that Biscomaun sells IFFCO’s fertilizer in the state of Bihar and Jharkhand.

“It was a courtesy call and I wanted to congratulate him in person for the spectacular performance of the co-op titan”, said Sunil. I thanked him for the selfless service he renders to the farmers of not only Bihar but also to the farmers of the whole of India, Singh stated.

“I will send you the video clip of my speech on the floor of Bihar Assembly in which I had told the govt that the state should be thankful to IFFCO for reining in the urea price at Rs 265 and thereby controlling the rampant black-marketing which used to be the case in the past”, Sunil said.

“To tell you the truth I even advised the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to contact IFFCO MD (Whom he knows personally since Nitish was the Union Agriculture Minister in Atal Ji’s Cabinet) for a permanent solution of the fertilizer crisis in the state”, said Sunil to Indian Cooperative.

Explaining further Sunil said that there is going to be commissioning of the gas pipeline from Sultanpur to Haldia for the new fertilizer complex coming up in Barauni in August this year. Using his old association, the CM can request IFFCO to set up a fertilizer plant either in Gaya or Mokama. This would end the perennial crisis of fertilizer in the state, Sunil underlined.

Meanwhile, Sunil posted a picture of his meeting with Dr Awasthi on social media, which is drawing huge response from the netizens. He wrote “Today I arrived at IFFCO’s New Delhi office and paid courtesy to the magician Dr Uday Shankar Awasthi, who has given IFFCO newer heights.”

“He worked hard to earn the highest ever profit of 2400 crore and record production despite the ill effects of the global corona pandemic. He set up a milestone to distribute 140 lakh metric tons of fertilizer directly to the farmers. On behalf of the Bihar cooperative family I offer him Congratulations!”

The leadership of Dr Uday Shankar Awasthi and his entire Board of Directors have made all of us co-operators proud as IFFCO has set a new record in the field of production and distribution of fertiliser in the country, Sunil concluded.
