Institute of Cooperative Management, Bhopal is training officers of Bhutan Royal Army and Bhutan Royal Guard into Rural Entrepreneurship and Small business course at its campus in Bhopal. The course which began in the last week of February would continue for four months, informs Dr A. K. Asthana, Director of the institute.
Besides the army officers from Bhutan, several Officers from Indian Army and Indian Air force have also joined the course. In this programme, trainees are taught basic entrepreneurship skills so that they can start some village based business and create employment opportunity for themselves and for others.
These officers are disciplined and good human resource from the defense force whose energy is channelized for purposeful activity of societies through this course, underlined Asthana.
During the four months programme, institute would guide them in various types of agri-based and less- capital intensive business ventures which are supported by various schemes of state or central government.
These courses are part of skill development programme which aims to give skilled employers to the societies. Class room teaching, project work, making DPR for their select project, industrial visit and interacting with successful business man give them enough confidence to kick start their own business after retirement, claimed ICM Bhopal Director.
ICM Bhopal has been conducting post retirement course for the JCOs/NCOs and ORs of Indian Army, Navy and Airforce since last five years. This year Director General of Resettlement, Ministry of Defense, New Delhi gave additional responsibility to train officers from Bhutan Army and Royal Guard.
This is first time that state level institute of NCCT is offering training to international participants. Some participants from previous batches have reported to start their own business which shows utilities of such course in present time, claims the Institute.
