I will not lose till elections are democratic: Biscomaun Chairman

The outgoing Chairman of Biscomaun, Dr Sunil Kumar Singh is confident of getting re-elected as the Chairman of Biscomaun which has completed its first phase of election. In this phase the state’s marketing cooperative federation elected 210 delegates from across districts in Bihar and Jharkhand.

Election for the new Board is scheduled for 9th June in which a new Chairman and vice-chairman would be elected. While the 15th May elections for delegates eliminated several stalwarts from the race, the election of Chairman and vice-Chairman is not going to be less interesting, said a newly elected delegate.

“Though more than 50% delegates are new I have faith that I would make it once again, said Sunil while accepting that Biscomaun is not his personal fiefdom. I trust my delegates and God; I will not lose till the elections are held observing the democratic principles”, he underlined.

The outgoing Chairman claimed that few co-operative elections could match the transparency and fair play observed in the Biscomaun election as a district judge was made the Returning Officer. “His election room acted like a war room where he would keep a strong vigil on the election process”, said Sunil who is known for romanticizing even small things.

Newspaper advertisements and WhatsApp messages were sent from the office of Returning officer asking members not to miss the chance of becoming a delegate. They were exhorted both to contest as well as to cast their votes, said Sunil Singh.

Sunil, however, regretted that some of his friends who were in the outgoing Board failed to get elected as delegates. Prominent among them are Rambabu Singh and Raghuvansh Singh. While Rambabu was defeated by his own nephew, Raghuvansh Babu’s old age proved a stumbling block for him. Additionally, he withdrew as he saw a massive support for Vishnude Rai.

A meeting held in the regional office of Biscomaun in Arrah elected Krishna Kumar Singh, Vijay Kumar Singh, Rana Pratap Singh, Balmiki Chaudhary, Vanshadhar Singh and Om Prakash Singh as delegates unanimously from group A.

Bhojpur Central Cooperative Bank Chairman Satyendra Naryana Singh has been elected unanimously from group B. According to sources, Ajay Singh, the eldest son of late Tapeshwar Singh developed cold feet at the fierce competition and gave way to Satyendra Singh.

According to reports coming in from Gaya, Belaganj Vypar Mandal Sahyog Samiti Chairman Mundrika Singh has also been elected unopposed. Ramesh Choubey, Chairman of state co-op bank has also won as Biscomaun delegate from Sasaram, informed Sunil. In a text message Praful Singh who is son of former Cooperative Minister Awadesh Singh, also informed Indian Cooperative that he had been elected unopposed.
