Gujarat State Co-op Union: Amin creates records, gets elected 10th time

A familiar face in the cooperative circles, Ghanshyambhai Amin has been elected unopposed yet again as the Chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Union (GSCU), the election for which was held on Monday in Ahmedabad. This will be his 10th term as the chairman.

Dhirubhai A Chavda, Chairman of Kheda District Cooperative Bank has been declared as Vice Chairman. Chavda has replaced Jayant Singh Jadega.

“G.H.Amin- the veteran cooperator from Gujarat and Vice-President of National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) has been elected unopposed”, announced Deputy Collector (West), Ahmedabad in the Special General Meeting.

After his victory, buoyed up Amin said to Indian Cooperative, “I am thankful for the voters who have faith in me as they have re-elected me unopposed for the 10th term as the Chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Union. The board consists of 27 members and on an average four members are newcomers to the board”.

Exemplifying true cooperative spirit which cuts across party lines, Amin was supported by Congressmen too. While his younger brother is said to one of the pillars of Gujarat BJP, G H Amin himself also belongs to the same fold.

Spearheading the cooperative movement in the state, Gujarat State Co-op Union also runs training centres in the state. Soon after his victory, Amin shared with Indian Cooperative his future plans.

He said” We would open more training centers in Gujarat.” He also listed the training centers already working at Nadiad, Mehsana, Surat, Bhavnagar, Rajkot and Ahmedabad. We are also planning to build a world class training institution at Rajkot where construction will start within six months”, he asserted.

Bhikhubhai Z Patel, Director, KRIBHCO and Arvindbhai D Tagdiya Vice-Chairman of Rajkot District Cooperative Bank have been unanimously elected as Honarary Secretaries of Gujarat State Cooperative Union.

Amin is said to have created a record amongst all state level Apex cooperative institutes for the longest tenure as Chairman.

As soon as the social media handle of Gujarat State Coop Ahmedabad shared the news it was flooded with congratulatory messages.
