Diwali: Cooperators too remember soldiers

On the occasion of Dipavali cooperators joined politicians and bollywood stars in wishing the festival of lights to people in general and soldiers posted at the borders in particular. Several cooperators including NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh Yadav and IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi expressed their good wishes to army men.

NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh said “It is a festival of victory of good over evil; let us try to vanquish the evil in us and work towards a prosperous cooperative world. It is only through cooperative that the lot of the downtrodden could be improved. I remember our soldiers on this festive occasion”

Tweeting on the occasion Dr Awasthi said “Let’s celebrate the Festival of Lights. Wishing everyone #HappyDiwali. May god bless everyone with happiness, good health & prosperity”. A great supporter of Indian armed forces Awasthi wished them a prosperous Diwali.

Jyotindra Mehta, President of Sahakar Bharati wished his friends and families on the occasion by writing on his Face Book wall. He posted “Dipawali celebrations at every home. Creativity and excellence by every female household members!”

R S Sodhi, the Managing Director of GCMMF also wished everyone a very happy and prosperous Dipawali through the platform of Indian Cooperative. He also remembered soldiers on this occasion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday celebrated Diwali with soldiers in a remote and strategic area in Himachal Pradesh, adjoining the Chinese border. Modi also made an unscheduled trip to a village, Chango, and said he was “deeply touched by the impromptu reception and their joy”.

Earlier, Modi launched a public campaign, Sandesh2Soldiers, urging the people to be a part of it. He asked people to express their gratitude to soldiers guarding the borders through the campaign by sending them personalised messages on the occasion of Diwali.

Bollywood stars like Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, and cricketers such as Virat Kohli, Virendra Sehwag and Mohammad Kaif have also posted their messages to soldiers on Twitter by using the prime minister’s campaign hashtag #Sandesh2Soldiers. Many Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politicians and ministers have also joined in the campaign.
