Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO) Chairman V. Sudhakar Chowdary highlighted a wide range of new initiatives in farmer outreach, soil health, sustainable agriculture and cooperative development while presenting his address at the cooperative’s 46th Annual General Body Meeting in New Delhi.
Against the backdrop of a challenging global fertiliser environment marked by supply disruptions, higher freight and insurance costs and geopolitical tensions, KRIBHCO produced 21.34 lakh MT of urea and 12.39 lakh MT of ammonia during FY2025-26. Fertiliser sales reached 45.85 lakh MT, including 11.31 lakh MT of imported DAP, NPK and NPS fertilisers and 18,208 MT of SSP.
Chowdary said KRIBHCO had simultaneously expanded its focus on sustainable farming. During the year, the cooperative sold 8.99 lakh litres of liquid bio-fertilisers and 33,874 MT of city compost, while educating farmers on balanced nutrient use, soil organic carbon and long-term soil fertility.
The cooperative also produced and marketed 1.67 lakh quintals of certified seeds through its 11 modern seed-processing plants and one custom-processing unit.
Farmer outreach remained a major focus, with KRIBHCO organising 4,611 farmer meetings, field demonstrations and cooperative conferences during the year. These programmes reached 4.41 lakh farmers and cooperative members, while 7.02 lakh technical folders on improved agricultural practices were distributed.
KRIBHCO currently operates 67 Krishak Bharati Sewa Kendras across five states, providing agricultural inputs, technical guidance and advisory support to farmers under one roof.
Chowdary said KRIBHCO also strengthened the cooperative ecosystem by adopting 185 cooperative societies and training 18,817 cooperative managers through 170 conferences and workshops.
Its soil-health initiative covered 22,134 soil samples collected from farmers in 17 states. The KRIBHCO Krishi Paramarsh Kendra separately tested 6,486 samples received from 16 states and digitally shared the reports with farmers. The cooperative’s Kisan Helpline also provided weather information to help farmers plan agricultural operations.
Environmental efforts included planting and distributing around one lakh saplings under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign.
Among KRIBHCO’s group entities, Oman India Fertiliser Company produced 20.64 lakh MT of urea and 13.49 lakh MT of ammonia during calendar 2025, while KRIBHCO Fertilizers Ltd recorded 11.02 lakh MT of urea and 6.68 lakh MT of ammonia production.
KRIBHCO Agri Business Ltd recorded a turnover of Rs. 1,919.35 crore from agricultural commodity trading and exports. Meanwhile, KRIBHCO Green Energy is advancing clean-energy projects in support of the government’s ethanol-blending programme.
As of March 31, 2026, KRIBHCO had 9,672 member cooperative societies and paid-up share capital of Rs. 391.10 crore. Its total income rose to Rs. 16,401.36 crore from Rs. 15,694.01 crore in the previous year.
