Delhi: MLA demands bribe from Credit Society

The Delhi Lokayukta has urged Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to administer a reprimand to BJP MLA Anil Thakur from Kirari constituency of the capital for demanding protection money of Rs one lakh and an air-conditioner from his constituent Bhagwan Sharma who is MD of Shiv Shakti Thrift and Credit Society.

Mr. Sharma had lodged a complaint with the Lokayukt. The latter found BJP legislator guilty of behaviour and conduct unbecoming of a public functionary.

There were allegations in the complaint that the impugned MLA visited the office of the society and insisted on getting money and air-conditioner.He would openly use his men to threaten people and ask for illegal money, it was alleged.

According to Mr. Sharma, when he refused to pay the MLA got a number of false complaints made against his Society to the Registrar of Cooperative Societies.

A source keeping close tabs on the developments said when investigation was made to find out all the details of MLA’s complaints were found baseless.
