VAMNICOM in association with NABARD organized a two-day National Conference on “Good Governance, Leadership and Management in Cooperatives” at Pune recently. In his inaugural remarks, Satish Marathe, Director, Reserve Bank of India talked about the governance of cooperatives in the past, present and future.
Marathe said cooperatives would be at the forefront of tackling the coming socioeconomic challenges ranging from the pandemic to food security, income and employment opportunities on a large scale and for generations to come.
Govardhan Singh Rawat, CGM, NABARD and Chief Convener, Dr. Hema Yadav, Director, VAMNICOM were guests of honour on this occasion. Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Hema Yadav focused on the socio-economic unit, integration of stakeholders and their role in the development of cooperative ecosystems.
She focused on the importance of youth involvement in making the cooperative ecosystem more resilient and viable. She further said that the stakeholders in cooperatives should come together to create a visionary and market approach value chain and create an autonomous brand value entity.
The aim of the conference was to bring together internationally renowned researchers with insights on new approaches in the governance and management of the cooperative sector by drawing influence from innovative technologies, economic, social and environmental sustainability and sustainable development, informs the press release issued by Vamnicom.
At a time of the drafting of the new cooperative policy, the conference aimed to share knowledge and experience among cooperative departmental officials and stakeholders, researchers, universities and research centres, policy makers, cooperatives, business enterprises, practitioners and NGOs.
V Sudheer Registrar Vamnicom delivered the welcome address. The conference was briefed by Dr. Prashant Kadam, Convener, Professor & HOC CED, VAMNICOM.
Govardhan Singh Rawat, CGM, NABARD also spoke in the conference saying cooperatives are playing a very important role in credit flow to marginal and small farmers. He further added that, PACS will act as a role model for implementing socioeconomic schemes and furthering the development of stakeholders in the cooperative ecosystem.
Dr Mahesh Kadam, Associate Professor, VAMNICOM moved a vote of thanks on the occasion.
