Co-ops bag municipal contracts in Punjab

Tribune reports the Municipal Corporation Bathinda (MCB) has relied on cooperative societies for carrying out some urgent municipal construction works.

Constructing the work of sheds at Rose Garden at a cost of Rs 1.88 lakh has been given to Friends Cooperative Society. This tender has approved 14.25 per cent less than the estimated cost of Rs 2.20 lakh.

The construction work of the boundary wall of a graveyard on the Gurukul road has been allotted to Jhumba Co-operative LC Society at a cost of Rs 7.43 lakh, which is 18.90 per cent less than the estimated cost of Rs 9.17 lakh.

The painting work at Paras Ram Nagar under bridge and Multania road has been given to the Ganga Co-operative LC Society at a cost of Rs 21.02 lakh, which is 26.99 per cent less than the estimated cost of Rs 2.88 lakh.

The work of covering the garbage dump with mud at the solid waste treatment site has been given to the Friends Co-operative LC Society at a cost of Rs 36.71 lakh, which is 5.25 per cent less than the estimated amount of Rs 38.75 lakh.

The work of road connecting from Sanjay Nagar to Balraj Nagar has been given to the Ganga Co-operative LC Society at a cost of Rs 19.62 lakh, which is 31.41 per cent less than the estimated cost of Rs 28.61 lakh.
