Several cooperative unions and urban cooperative banks across India have kicked off the weeklong celebrations on the occasion of the 64th All India Cooperative week with enthusiasm on Tuesday. Blood donations, co-operative march and display of products made by co-operatives, among other highlights marked the day across states.
While the theme this year is “Empowering People through Digitalization of Cooperatives”, the objective of the celebrations is to highlight the achievements of the cooperative movement and discuss strategies for the future.
If National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) celebrated the day in the presence of Central Registrar Ashish Bhutani and other eminent dignitaries, its West Bengal based cooperative training institute NSRICM conducted a march of students to create an awareness of the cooperative week among the general public in the state.
The government of Punjab organized the celebrations under the theme of ‘Good governance and professionalism
through cooperative’ which was inaugurated by Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana K P Singh at Verka Plant in Mohali.
Karnataka based Mysuru Cooperative Union celebrated the day with its President underlining the importance of the National Cooperative Week saying the Week is being held to increase the awareness among the general public on the role played by the cooperative sector in society.
Writing on his twitter wall about the Week, Narendra Sawaikar, MP Lok Sabha, South Goa said ‘’ the Cooperative 
movement is the foundation of our rural economy”.
Karimnagar District Cooperative Central Bank celebrated the Week with the staff members and employees of the cooperative bank.
PACCS of different states are reported to have celebrated the day with farmers and cooperators holding blood donation camps on the occasion of the 64th All Indian Cooperative Week.
Odisha based Center for cooperative management hoisted the cooperative flag in its premises and took a pledge to adopt cashless transactions. West Bengal Based Balurghat Wood Carving Industrial Cooperative Society celebrated
the day with a large number of women showcasing their wooden products on the occasion.
During the cooperative week celebrations, initiatives like Digital awareness campaigns, Demonstration of digital transaction using mobile, internet, app base, SMS based, e-wallet, UPI, Aadhar based payment, micro ATM, etc have been planned.
