Co-op Sector needs youths to match technology of Corporates: Amin

Ahmedabad Gujarat State Co-operative Union organized a State Level Youth Co-operative Seminar on the theme of ” The Role of the Youth Power and the Co-operative Institutes in $ 5 Trillion Economy” recently in Ahmedabad. G H Amin, Chairman of Gujarat State Co-operative Union presided over the seminar, informs a press release.

Gujarat’s Co-operative Minister Jagdish Vishwakarma inaugurated the event which was attended by scores of people including leading cooperative functionaries.

In his inaugural remarks, Vishwakarma explained how the standard of living of the people can be transformed through Co-operation. Citing the examples of AMUL, Lijjat Papad and Idar based ‘ Balgopal Bachat ane Dhiran Sahakari Mandli’ and other successful Cooperatives, he urged cooperatives to forge the growth and progress by themselves. He called upon the youth to strengthen the cooperative sector so as to realize the country’s goal of a $ 5 trillion economy.

In his presidential address, G.H Amin said, the young people should knock the door of self-employment and open the door for providing employment to others by way of joining the co-operative activities which ensure socio-economic development without discrimination of caste-creed, the poor-the rich and male-female.

He said further that the Co-operative Sector is in need of youth for technocrats so as to face the competition with the private sector. Ghanshyam Amin mentioned the Prime Minister’s slogan ” Prosperity through Co-operation” and praised him for forming a separate and exclusive Ministry of Co-operation and entrusting the responsibility of the Ministry to Shri Amit Shah.

On this occasion, a Booklet “Yuva Utkarsh” was released by Dr Bharat Joshi, Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapith and Guest of Honour of the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hari Desai, Senior Journalist and Director of the Journalism Department of SVG University and Chief Guest of the function said the credit for the development of Gujarat goes to the Co-operative Sector.

Several other leading personalities addressed the seminar underlining the importance of the youth in transforming the cooperative sector.

K T Parekh, the Vice Chairman of the State Co-operative Union urged the young people to take interest in cooperative activities and build the future of Bharat.

The program was anchored by C J Dave, the Officer of the State Co-operative Union. More than 800 young students of various colleges of the State attended the seminar.
