Co-op election fracas land MLA into jail

jailJudicial Magistrare of Ahmednagar in Maharashtra has sentenced BJP legislator Shivajee Kardile and one of his supporters to six months’ rigorous imprisonment for disturbing law and order during the 2002 polls to the District central cooperative bank.

 

The court awarded him an additional three months’ RI for violation of the representation of people Act.

 

Police say they were able to convince the court that the accused had indulged in violence, abusive language and threatening voters during the cooperative vote.

 

However, the court released them on bail after they furnished a personal bond.
