Co-op election: BJP accuses BJD

naveenpatnaikmOnce again, the cooperative vote in Odisha has stirred controversy as the Patnaik govt is subject to widespread accusations of being bent on rigging the vote using unfair means.

The state BJP has urged the state election commission to ensure the cooperative vote is held in a free and fair manner. The party has insisted on the govt complying with the High Court directive and issuing a rectified voters’ list without delay.

The BJP is worried about the BJD govt organizing elections in a dishonest manner in order to get a result favourable to the ruling party. Sources say the state govt stand has been a threat to democracy as far as the cooperative vote in the state is concerned.

A BJD leader says his party is determined to win the elections by fair means or foul, he spoke on condition of anonymity.
