Co-op Day: Co-operators greet each other; CMs also join

On the occasion of International Day of Cooperatives several Indian co-operators are active greeting each other since morning. From Nafcub President Jyotindra Mehta to Gujarat State Cooperative Union Chairman G H Amin to several other co-operators have posted their wishes on social media.

In one of the photos shared by Mehta, he wrote with a caption, ” Rebuild better together”. Greeting fellow co-operators, Amin said, “Heartiest Best Wishes to All cooperators on the occasion of International Day of Cooperative”.

Besides cooperators, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also greeted people on the occasion. He wrote, ” On International Day of Cooperatives, let us resolve to strengthen the cooperative movement. As we are facing corona pandemic, cooperatives show that we can rebuild better together with values of self-help and solidarity. It can reduce inequality & create shared prosperity”.

Many cooperative institutions including TJSB Bank extended their warm greetings on the occasion. TJSB wrote, ” We respect your contribution towards rebuilding the economic, social and environmental position of our community & nation”.

Similarly, Cosmos Bank wrote on his twitter wall, “Bringing the world together with improved technology and better customer services. We salute the dedication and resilience in each person. Wishing all a Happy International Co-operative Day!”

The apex body of co-ops-NCUI is organizing a webinar in which Union Minister of State for Agriculture Parshottam Rupala would be the Chief Guest and the function would be presided over by the NCUI President Dileep Sanghani.

Today, Sahakar Bharati is organizing a program virtually in the evening in which Padma Bhushan Dr Nandkishore S Laud, eminent Orthopaedic Surgeon who has devoted long years for successfully running Shushrusha Citizens Co-Op Hospital will be the Keynote Speaker.

NCDC had organized an event on “Cooperatives and the challenges of Covid-19 pandemic” to mark the International Day of Cooperatives celebrated every year on Friday. In the times of ongoing covid-19 crisis, many cooperatives in India have risen to the occasion and shown their capabilities to respond to COVID-19 pandemic to the best of their capabilities, said Bhagwan Shankar, Additional Chief Secretary, Cooperation Department, Government of Sikkim.

Gujarat Marketing Cooperative Gujcomasol and Vamnicom are organizing a webinar on the occasion. The theme of this year’s International Day of Cooperatives is “Rebuild better together”.

This year’s celebration will be the 27th International Day of Cooperatives recognized by the United Nations and the 99th International Cooperative Day.
